Monthly Goals Update – June

by Sean Mathena

This post is a little early this time since the month of June will be dedicated to the series 30 Ways in 30 Days to Find Your Peak.

Not a whole lot of progress this month anyhow! :(

I will be posting an update each month on how I am progressing on my goals, which I will post at the beginning of the month.  I started working on these specific goals on January 1, 2011, and intend to have accomplished them by the end of the year.  Here is my progress so far:

  1. Max out my retirement accounts - Complete
I have sent in the change to my 401K and they have already started taking the new amount out of my check.
  2. Spend three weeks on vacation in Australia
I am still waiting on award tickets for this one.  They are saying that the airline might release tickets closer to the flight, so stay tuned!  We have decided that if we go we are going to visit Sydney and Cairns.
  3. Get my body fat to 12%
This is moving right along.  of course not as quickly as I would like, but slow and steady wins the race!
  4. Become conversationally fluent in Spanish
I have been working on my Spanish, but not near as much as I should.  I have started traveling a bunch, and have not taken the time that I should.  I have added podcasts to my learning resources, and downloaded the course from Fluent in Three Months. Not much has changed this month.
  5. Learn to play piano
I have been practicing, but as with Spanish, not as much as I had planned due to travel.
  6. Finish 50 Best Pictures - Complete
I finished this goal already, but I am sure I will watch several more before the year is over.  I did watch the latest winner, The King’s Speech which was a really good film.
  7. Have 5000 subscribers to Find Your Peak
Still not even close.  I have added about 55 subscribers in all this year, and hopefully some new things I am planning will add a bunch more.
  8. Break 90 in golf
I have started hitting the course a little more often, but I am still a long way from breaking 90.
  9. Travel to South AmericaComplete
As I mentioned, this was a slam dunk.  I went to Brazil a couple weeks ago.
  10. Double my income and net worth from 2010
So far nothing grand has happened that will greatly affect this goal.  There are still several things that could make this a reality if they come through so stay tuned!

I might be adding or substituting a goal as the Dallas mavericks have made it to the finals!  One of my bucket list goals is to attend an NBA finals game, so depending on how many kidneys I have to give up for the tickets I might check that one off of my list!

Well, so far this year I have completed 30% of the goals I set for myself, so that isn’t too bad.  I don’t think the rest will go so quick though.  So how are you doing with your goals?  let me know in the comments!
