Six More Secrets of Success

by Sean Mathena on June 8, 2010

I have posted on success secrets in the past, but there are so many paths to success, it seems to require more and more posts.  So here is one more success list.

Act as If
This is a line out of one of my favorite movies, Boiler Room.  Act as if you are already what you want to be.  If you want to be successful, act like you have already made it.  Dress the part, start hanging around the type of people you would hang around if you were successful.  If you start acting like you are already what you want to be, you will be surprised at how quick you will become what you want to be.  There is a popular story of how Jim Carrey wrote himself a million dollar check, and was able to cash it before the date he wrote on the check.  Act as if!

Action Cures Fear
If you are afraid to do something, whether it be speaking in front of a crowd or jumping out of a plane, do it.  Action always cures your fear.  Once you do the thing you most dread, you see there is actually nothing to be afraid of.  The first step is always the hardest, but if you don’t take it, it only gets harder.  Resolve to take action on your fears today!

Motion Creates Emotion
Have you ever seen a video of Anthony Robbins?  If not, take a look at the video on this site.  That guy never stops moving!  He holds seminars that last late into the night, and he never slows down.  He definitely believes in the mantra he teaches, Motion Creates Emotion! Try walking faster when you move from place to place, stand up when you are giving a presentation.  If you are feeling down, take a walk.  Just get moving and get excited!

Sit in Front
There is nothing inconspicuous about success!  If you are in a meeting, seminar, church, or any gathering, sit on the front row.  You will be noticed, you will have the best view, and you will get more out of the event.  If you are going to be successful, you cannot be a wall flower, you have to let people know who you are and that you are in the game, not sitting on the sidelines.

Make Eye Contact
This is very important, when you are talking with someone, make eye contact.  This shows you are confident in what you are saying, and not trying to mislead them.  Have you ever watched a kid who was obviously lying?  They look everywhere but in your eyes.  Make sure you are making eye contact!

Smile
This one is easy, just smile.  Even if you don’t feel like it, give everyone a great big smile and you will always be better received.  It will also make you feel better, because it is really hard to have a happy physiology and be in a bad mood.  If nothing else, they will wonder what you are up to!
